Project: A layered and lively town hall in Mortsel

Public interiors call for a careful balance between functionality, durability and architectural coherence. For Mortsel Town Hall, Master Interior worked alongside Master Pro on a considered fit-out that starts from respect for the existing building while responding to contemporary use.

As part of the large-scale renovation, new furniture was supplied for various areas of the town hall, including office chairs, lounge chairs, a sofa and the seating for the council chamber. This first phase is part of a broader long-term vision, in which the interior is built up in stages through Master Pro’s professional project approach.

The design took shape in close collaboration with Eagles of Architecture and starts from an honest approach to materials and colour. The furniture finishes are attuned to the building’s original materials, forming a subtle bridge between the historic character of the town hall and its renewed function.

The result is a coherent and lively whole, in which architecture and interior reinforce one another and are ready for durable, long-term use.
