Design in collaboration with Master Interior
A few years ago, the current residents furnished their previous home with the help of Master Interior. The quality, service and personal attention they experienced stayed with them, and it brought them back to Turnhout for this project as well.
Our interior architect Isabelle guided them through our showroom. She also visited the house to see which colours would work best and which fabrics would suit the window treatments.
The kitchen and the dining room
Isabelle suggested a range of design chairs, tables and sofas, and also advised on accessories. Several pieces by When Objects Work found their place in this home: the Bowl by John Pawson in the kitchen and the Pottery with oak lid in the dining area.
Around the robust wooden table in the dining area you’ll find the Eames Plastic Armchairs (DAW) by Vitra: a reworked version of the legendary Fiberglass Chair.
The seating area
Just beyond the dining area lies a seating area overlooking the garden. The Eames Lounge Chair with matching ottoman by Vitra sits perfectly beside the welcoming fireplace. This is also a lovely spot to read in the evening, thanks to the Lumina Daphine Terra floor lamp and the Chemise sofa by Italian brand Living Divani.
The look of the dining area is carried subtly through to the large Tense desk by MDF Italia. The chairs are the same Vitra Eames Plastic Chairs used in the dining area, and the charming set of three Caillou vases is also by When Objects Work. Beside the desk sits the television corner, with the Extrasoft sofa by Living Divani.
The basement as a place to unwind
The stairs in the entrance hall lead down to the basement, which has been fitted out entirely as a place to unwind. The warm colours here create an intimate atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The undisputed eyecatcher is the wine cellar, enclosed on three sides by glass. Beside it, under the light of a monumental lamp, stands the large round S-Table by MDF Italia, paired with Flow Slim Armchairs. A separate cinema room holds the Neowall sofa by Living Divani and two wonderfully comfortable Plux Butterfly armchairs.
Design on the upper floor
Upstairs, the bedroom is home to the Egg chair with ottoman by Fritz Hansen, the Charles bed by B&B Italia and the Daphine Terra bedside lamps by Lumina. The study was given a spacious, functional layout, with the Flow Slim Armchair by MDF Italia as a desk chair and a bright red Plywood Group LCW chair by Vitra for moments of rest, all sourced from Master Interior.
