From idea to reality
Whether it’s to see that one dream piece in the flesh or simply to gather inspiration, a visit to our showroom always makes your plans feel more tangible. The clients behind this new-build home also came away from their tour of our showroom with a much clearer idea of what they wanted.
The kitchen, dining area, living room and seating area of this house all sit in one large space on the ground floor, with a beautiful view of the garden. With natural materials throughout, such as the natural stone in the kitchen and the wooden wall panelling, careful thought was needed about which furniture would suit this characterful setting.
Interior architect Hans De Bont, who guided this new-build project on behalf of Master Interior, stresses just how much it helps to see the furniture with your own eyes. “These clients were able to view most of the furniture in the extensive collection in our showroom. I also brought a few dining chairs to the house beforehand, so they were fully informed before choosing the right model.”
Design classics and striking accents
A quick bite or a leisurely breakfast is easily had at the kitchen island, thanks to five Zanotta Lio bar stools. Their leather seats and backrests add a welcome touch of colour. For lunch or dinner, there is the elegant Walter Knoll Seito dining table beside the kitchen, which inevitably draws the eye. It is beautifully complemented by eight grey Vitra Softshell Chairs.
Afterwards, you can relax in an elegant Cassina Moov sofa, brightened up with colourful Ferm Living Quilt cushions. Around the low Moroso Phoenix coffee table, designed by Patricia Urquiola, stand two Vitra Repos swivel chairs with matching ottomans. At the far end of the space are two Vitra Cité Lounge Chairs.
These dynamic chairs, with their striking leather straps as armrests, were designed by Frenchman Jean Prouvé for the student residences of the Cité Universitaire in Nancy. He placed one in his own living room as well. Almost a hundred years on, the Vitra Cité remains an untouchable design classic, and it comes fully into its own in this brand new home.
