Classics meet modernity
Real estate developer Development Coordination Belgium from Antwerp approached the Vitra Partner Store Antwerp with a request to furnish three spaces. “It was about the meeting room, lounge area, and dining area,” says Claudia Andolfi, sales manager at the Vitra Partner Store. “They wanted a timeless, high-quality interior, so it’s logical to turn to Vitra. I made some proposals and visited them with samples. That’s how we found a match together.”
The match also came between the Vitra classics of the past and present. For example, the three different boat-shaped Eames Segmented Tables, dating from 1964, were complemented by the Softshell Chairs by the Bouroullec brothers, released in 2008. In the lounge area, the Organic Chair by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen from 1940 and the Guéridon coffee table by Jean Prouvé from 1949 complement each other. In the dining area, you’ll find the All Plastic Chairs by Jasper Morrison, which have been on the market for barely five years.
The choice of oak veneer for the Segmented Tables, the solid oak Guéridon, and the Organic Chair with its black ash base is, of course, no coincidence. “The materials of the furniture form a beautiful whole with the wood of the flooring and the lighting fixtures,” Claudia explains.
