How to choose colors
When choosing the right colors, three general rules are often used, based on the color wheel.
Contrasting colors
For example, red and green, colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. It gives your interior life and strength.
Harmonious colors
For example, blue and turquoise, colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. It creates a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
Tone-on-tone colors
For example, dark yellow and light yellow, different shades of one color on the color wheel. It makes your interior uniform and relaxing.
Color accents in practice
The plastic seat shell in white and sand color of the Catifa 46 stools from Arper complements the tones of the sleekly designed kitchen. The white kitchen cabinets have a wooden finish on the inside.
In the dining room, the black Acan cabinets from Maxalto create a striking contrast with the white walls and the soft wood of the table and chairs. Both in shape and color, there is a subtle connection made with the other furniture. With the solid oak Pink table from Van Rossum, it’s through the black sides, and with the Wishbone Chairs from Carl Hansen, it’s through the leather seat cushions. The ten shades of the Shadows pendant lamp from Brokis also provide a notable black accent.
Still in the dining room, we created a cozy reading nook by the window with two Hay About a Chairs and the black Copenhague table, also from Hay. The Flow Pouf stool from MDF Italia can be placed anywhere. It subtly references the softer colors in the seating area.

Striking elements in the seating area are the two leather Limec armchairs from Design on Stock. The decorative cushions from Missoni Home and Hvid, and the plaid from Teixidors add attractive color accents to the neutrally colored Groundpiece sofa from Flexform. Especially for the grandchildren, there is the Casalis Bonnet pouf, in a playful design with a fun color.
The popular Goose Eye Icon rug from Kasthall creates cohesion between the colors of the various furniture pieces. It matches perfectly with the tones of the round Sen coffee tables from DePadova.
Below the television, we, together with the client, chose a floating shelf with custom low cabinets from Porro’s Modern collection. Eye-catchers here are the floating blue-grey Container cabinets from Cappellini. They draw attention when the television is off. Nearby is the black Jori Rapsody armchair, finished in beautiful natural Lotila leather.
Custom-made window decoration in style
Reading nook, dining room, and living area form one space. Our clients primarily wanted a cozy interior. We kept this in mind when choosing the window decoration.
For the blackout curtains, the semi-transparent Milo fabric from Zimmer & Rohde was used. In the Master workshop, we provided it with a beautiful Wave pleat and created a 6010 curtain rail from Silent Gliss for the full length of the room.
