The Pentagon, a penthouse on the seafront, designed by B BRAND

Discover The Pentagon

The Pentagon derives its name from its pentagonal floor plan. “This presented both challenges and opportunities for creativity during the design process,” says Ben Depuydt of B BRAND. “The result is a balanced dialogue between the intimacy of the central core and the panoramic views of both the North Sea and the Hinterland. In this way, The Pentagon offers the best of both worlds.”

The client wanted a timeless and enduring aesthetic for this distinctive property. “At first glance, we chose a subdued material palette, reflecting the natural tones of the surroundings. But upon closer inspection, you’ll notice the bold and rebellious details that are so characteristic of our B BRAND signature.”

Take, for example, the delicately designed steelwork and the brushed aluminum cabinetry in the dining area. Walls made of ‘smart glass’ introduce an unconventional way of bathing or showering with an open, breathtaking view of the sea.

Knoll, Arper, Cassina, Vitra, Flexform...

The Pentagon features three terraces, each designed for cozy dining around the Hopper Picnic table by Extremis. “The loose furniture was carefully selected by Master Meubel,” says Ben Depuydt. “With their expertise, they serve as the perfect bridge between the interior designer and the client. For The Pentagon, they turned to renowned brands and classic designs from the likes of Knoll, Arper, Cassina, Vitra, and Flexform.”

The result is a beautifully translated color and material palette throughout the residence. “In the kitchen, we opted for the Arper Catifa barstools in an earthy clay tone with a black base. The living area is adorned with the Matic sofa, paired with the Grasshopper side table from Knoll. The rug is from Kasthall. Whether enjoying a drink, catching up, or reading by the fireplace, the Cassina Utrecht armchairs provide the perfect spot.”

B BRAND also integrated several of its own designs, such as the CROSS TABLE in the dining area, complemented by green Conference chairs from Knoll. Their FIVE TABLE was custom-shaped to match the pentagonal floor plan and paired with a dark green leather Soft Pad EA217 office chair from Vitra. For more informal meetings, the nearby Biki Chairs by Cassina offer a relaxed yet stylish setting.
